It's considered one of Southern California's finest fishing lakes because its lake-bottom topography of rocky drop-offs, shallow areas, and aquatic plant beds is great for different kinds of fish. The area, a Santa Barbara County Park, is also home to deer, bobcats, and 275 species of birds, including migratory bald eagles in the winter. You can see the latter on eagle cruises that depart from the lake marina from November through February. Wildlife cruises—all with a naturalist aboard—are featured from March through October. Cacuma Lake also offers boat rentals, picnic, camping, and play facilities.
